Safecoat Safe Seal is a multi-purpose, waterborne, clear low gloss primer/sealer. It is primarily for highly porous surfaces such as particle board, plywood, processed wood and porous concrete. It is commonly used to reduce toxic outgassing by flushing and sealing. in particular, it is highly effective at sealing in formaldehyde outgassing from processed wood such as plywood, particle board, OSB, and pressed wood.

Use on: Porous surfaces such as processed/engineered wood products, concrete, wood, new drywall, and plaster. Test surfaces first in inconspicuous areas to be sure product absorbs into surfaces completely. Use primarily on surfaces that will be hidden, part of an assembly, or full absorption can be achieved. We do not recommend its use on surfaces that will remain exposed (furniture, shelves, etc), as it remains tacky after dry. Instead, use Safecoat Hard Seal or Acrylacq for exposed wooden surfaces--like shelves, furniture fronts, etc.

Excellent at controlling emissions of open faced and faced fiberglass batt insulation - simply fog spray surfaces. Safe Seal's superior adhesion to a variety of surfaces allows for its use as a bonding primer to improve the adhesion and bonding power of adhesives and coatings on difficult surfaces. For example, apply a thin coat to the slab and bottom of the tile before laying floor tile adhesive (in this application no cure period is necessary; the adhesive may be applied while the Safe Seal is still tacky).

Coverage: One gallon of Safecoat Safe Seal covers approximately 350 square feet in one coat depending on surface porosity. One quart covers approximately 85 square feet.

Application: To assist in quick drying/curing, bring adequate ventilation and air flow to the work area. Before using, stir Safecoat Safe Seal thoroughly but without excessive agitation so as to avoid air bubbles. Then apply as is, using a brush, roller, sponge or appropriate spray equipment. Apply in thin coats. For most jobs, reducing this product should not be necessary. Milky appearance, dries clear. As the flexible membrane created by Safe Seal remains slightly tacky even when cured, surfaces treated with Safe Seal should generally be coated with a finish coating.

For best results, this product should not be reduced. Note: these instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine what preparation and techniques are best suited to the specific surface. Refer to product label for full instructions.
