B-I-N® Advanced Synthetic Shellac Primer is a synthetic shellac-based primer sealer that provides excellent stain blocking for whole-surface interior priming and exterior spot priming. It combines fast dry time, low odor, excellent hide and stain blocking for new construction, remodeling and fire and water restoration.

  • Water-based, lower VOCs than other shellac primers
  • Much lower odor than other shellac primers
  • Superior odor sealing
  • Ultimate stain blocking
  • High hiding bright white
  • Excellent adhesion
  • Enamel hold out
  • Seals knots, sap and tannin

Use: B-I-N Advanced to prime all types of bare or painted interior surfaces including wood, drywall, cured plaster, masonry, galvanized metal and PVC. B-I-N Advanced has

excellent adhesion to dense, glossy surfaces such as enamel paints and varnishes, paneling, laminates, glass and ceramic tile without the need for sanding or de-glossing.

STAIN BLOCKING: B-I-N Advanced will effectively blocks stains from water, nicotine, grease, oil, soot, rust, mildew, tannin, crayon and lipstick. It also provides an excellent odor barrier to block odors from fire damage, smoke, cigar & cigarettes, pet urine, and fireplaces.

NOTE: While we do not consider this a chemically "green" product, we find it chemically superior and safer than other products in the shellac primer category. This type of product can be needed to deal with troublesome situations, such as:

  • sealing in tobacco smoke odors
  • sealing in fireplace soot and odors
  • blocking darker waterspots and other deeper stains

If you are chemically sensitive, we find it often successful to initially prime with this primer, then cover with two coats of our AFM Safecoat paint (which helps to mitigate offgassing of the substrate, including this primer). If you want to be additionally sure, then after applying the shellac primer, apply one coat of our AFM Safecoat Transitional Primer (for additional mitigation) then apply two coats of AFM Safecoat paint. As always, ventilation and air flow will help with curing the product to minimize offgassing; we recommend a test application in a small area before completing an entire project; and you might want to avoid occupancy of the painted area for a short period of time (1-2 days under common circumstances). Please understand we cannot guarantee this or any product will not cause a personal reaction. Our recommendations are based on our experience and best practices with countless projects and chemically sensitive clients.

LIMITATIONS: B-I-N Advanced is not recommended for full service use on exterior applications, for excessively humid interior areas or surfaces subject for immersion or prolonged contact with water. Do not box or intermix B-I-N Advanced with other oil-

base or water-base products.

VOCs: <100 g/l (0.83 lbs/gln)
