AFM Safecoat EcoLacq
Safecoat EcoLacq is an ideal finish for cabinets, furniture and woodwork when a "painted" finish is desired. EcoLacq is a pigmented, hard and durable, water-based replacement for high solvent lacquer.
It has very low odor and VOC content, allowing it to be used even in the homes of the chemically sensitive. Does not contain formaldehyde.
Safecoat® EcoLacq seals in outgassing from the substrate, and has superior resistance to stains, marring, and fingerprint marks.
Available in high gloss and matte sheens.
USE ON: Unfinished (or properly prepared and sanded previously finished) wooden surfaces such as wood cabinetry and doors, paneling, furniture, and wood railings.
High solids, more film build, better flow, higher luster. Comparable to conventional lacquers in performance without the toxicity.
APPLICATION:
For detailed product and application specifications, please refer to the specsheet here. For specific spray application instructions, refer to the Ecolacq Spray Guide (pdf) here. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND TESTING WITH YOUR SPRAY EQUIPMENT TO GET A COMFORTABLE, REPEATABLE SET-UP.
USE THIN COATS. Stir well before use; then apply with a quality nylon brush, roller or airless sprayer. Always wear painters mask when spraying. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause the product to dry and cure more slowly.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Ideal painting conditions include: dry surface, fresh airflow, 30-70% relative humidity, 55° to 85° F.
Clean surfaces of dirt, grease, mildew and oil.
Raw wood should be primed with Ecolacq Sandable Primer and completely dry before Ecolacq application.
DRYING/CURING TIME:
Can be recoated after 4 hours, although for best results, wait at least 8 hours before recoating. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh air flow, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55 degrees F.
Use the box below to enter the color you want, including: color name and number, and the color source (fandeck it is from). Please note that colors may not be an exact match due to the lacquer-base being slightly different from the latex-base of the wall paints.
DRYING/CURING TIME: Under normal conditions, Safecoat® Ecolacq dries to touch in one hour, is sandable after 2-4 hours, and re-coatable after 4-8 hours. The product will continue to cure and become harder over time. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh airflow, moderate humidity, and temperatures around 70°F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat Ecolacq to dry and cure more slowly
