BioBag 3G Compost/Waste Bag

BioBag 3G Compost/Waste Bag

Item #: BB187128
Our popular BioBag 3 gallon size has several great uses:
  • It is designed to fit most kitchen countertop composting pails--which make great complementary tools with our composting bins. If you want "fresh" food waste for your backyard compost and an odor-free kitchen, try using these bags with our ventilated Max Air food waste bucket. Using BioBags takes the mess out of cleaning out the bucket! BioBags can also help reduce odor and bacterial build-up during food scrap collection.
  • Great for refrigerated food storage--especially our fruits and vegetables. One feature of the BioBag is that it "breathes" without leaking. This unique benefit allows heat and moisture to evaporate, which keeps food "fresher" longer. Hint: Store your fruits and veggies to maintain freshness, and then use the same bag to line your composting pail. We call it "use and use again".
  • Smaller bathroom waste cans.

Quantity: 25 bags per box. 12 boxes per case (300 bags per case).
    Dimensions: 16.9" x 17.7".

The BioBag's environmental benefits go from "cradle to grave":

    • Cradle (when the product is manufactured) û it is made from corn (that is non-genetically modified), not from petroleum. As a rapidly renewable source, it has a much lower embodied energy and footprint than plastic bags
    • Grave (at the end of the product's life) û is biodegradable and compostable, leaving virtually no footprint or waste, versus plastic bags that can last for thousands of years.

    Features:

    • Biodegradable
    • Compostable
    • Earth Friendly
    • Contain GMO free starch, biodegradable polymer and other renewable resources
    • No Polythylene
    • Certified for use in organic agriculture
    • Certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute to meet the ASTM D6400 specification.
    • Meets the new California law, SB 1749, for biodegradable and compostable product claims.
    • Certified GMO Free. Furthermore, the manufacturer only sources corn from countries that do not allow GMO testing.
    • DEN certified for restricted use of metals in the product's soy-based inks and dyes
    • Shelf stable, just like paper plates or paper towels. There are no chemical additives to enhance decomposition. The bags biodegrade naturally when exposed to the earth's elements and micro-organisms in the soil.
    • They "breathe", which allows heat and moisture to escape or evaporate. This feature reduces bacterial build-up of collected waste, thus reducing odor
    • Will decompose in a controlled composting environment in 10-45 days, leaving no harmful residues behind. Will decompose in a natural setting at an extended rate comparable to other naturally biodegradable materials, such as paper, leaves and food waste.
    • Will biodegrade in both fresh and salt water. Australian studies suggest decomposition occurs between 8-14 months. We do not support placing any material in our oceans, lakes or waterways.

A note on landfill placement: BioBags are designed to be composted and returned naturally back to the earth. If BioBags are placed in an "open" or "turned" landfill they will decompose at a rate similar to other biodegradable materials in the same setting. If BioBags are placed in an anaerobic (air-locked) landfill and deprived of oxygen and the existence of the micro-organisms that "eat" naturally biodegradable materials, their ability to decompose will be severely restricted. This is true of all biodegradable materials placed in this setting, including paper, yard waste and food waste.
