American Pride (also known as Mythic) is a fantastic line of acrylic latex paints. Created by polymer scientists at the University of Southern Mississippi for the US Department of Defense and made in Chicago, American Pride represents a new breakthrough in environmental and health performance and doing what paint is supposed to do.
Features:
- Zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), exempted solvents, acetone, ammonia, crystalline silica, formaldehyde, formaldehyde precursors (chemicals that create formaldehyde once they enter the atmosphere), or other known toxic materials or suspected carcinogens.
- Extremely low odor, making it ideal for occupied areas.
- Green Seal certified and Master Painters Institute certified. In fact, American Pride is the only company that offers Green Seal certification on every product they manufacture, unlike other larger companies that offer a few green products while simultaneously fighting tougher VOC regulations and polluting our environment with conventional, higher solvent containing products.

- Formulated to partially seal in the wall substrate and minimize offgassing yet breathe to allow for a healthy exchange of outside air. It is not prudent to completely seal the wall surface as this traps potentially harmful chemicals that offgass from carpeting and furniture inside the room.

Additionally, the colorants we use in our paints have no VOCs nor Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APE), which are surfactants (detergents) which can be oestrogenic (hormone disrupting) and bioaccumulative in the environment (meaning they don't break down and increase concentration up the food chain).
